Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed, that phone etiquette seems to be a thing of the past? Increasingly I am noticing that people do not say "Goodbye" at the end of conversations, they just say something like "um, well, ok." then CLICK, they're gone. Now maybe it is my good upbringing :o), maybe my time spent as a receptionist, maybe just my own quirkiness, but I just really find it rude. I am left feeling like we didn't really finish talking............... like there was no closure to the conversation, like I've been jilted.
lol! O.k. that was a for all of you melodrama lovers out there, but seriously, WHAT IS SO HARD ABOUT SAYING GOODBYE?!?!?! Maybe I should have labeled this post "Pet Peeve #1" or something.*GRIN*
So, in honor of that underused word, Goodbye.
Goodbye Goodbye
Goodbye Goodbye Goodbye Goodbye
:o) GOODBYE :o)

Oh wait, I forgot to say Goodbye. "GOODBYE."
ReplyDeleteI can't really say that I've run into that problem...unless I've done it?! Actually if the phone clicks when I'm talking it's usually 'cause I drop it or something.
ReplyDeleteI think some people just dont know when the conversation is suppost to end and find themselves unsure of how to bring it to a close, saying goodbye seems so abrupt and so they say nothing. or see ya.
ReplyDeletemy pet peeve....chewing loudly.
I've also noticed lately people do not say "you're welcome" after a thank you. It is "sure", "no problem" etc. What's so had about You're welcome? Have a good day!

I haven't noticed that. But, it seems lots of niceties aren't as common than they used to be. I think it's the "social networking" - which in reality can make people less social because of the illusion of being social.
