Here he is when we adopted him at almost 2yrs of age:
(7/11/09 In case you are all wondering, I just noticed the flowery sheets and blanket....... this was in my bed. When he was real little he would come into my bed sometimes if got scared at night. I was 10yrs older than him and loved being the big, brave, older sister. :o)Here he is just a few days before he died:

It has been harder than I thought it would be, but good too. The kids and I made cupcakes and had a birthday party, celebrating that he gets to spend his birthday in heaven with Jesus.
We went to the cemetery and ate these Gluten Free goodies:

Then did 4th of July "poppers"

Sang 'Happy Birthday' and left cards

And picked flowers to decorate with

All in all, it went well. The kids were glad for a chance to remember as we talked about their favorite memories........ They are afraid that they will forget their special uncle. I hope today helps ease that fear.
Today is also my parents 30th anniversary.... HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Dad and Mom. Your marriage has been a beautiful testimony to all who know you. I love you!
My parents got to fulfill a dream for their 30th. They have wanted to cruise the Alaskan inland passage for as long as I can remember. Last week they were able to find some a last minute deal and so they went. I am so happy for them, though I will admit to being just a wee bit green from jealousy! :o) Maybe for my 30th! LOL!

I'm happy you were able to celebrate, remember and know that you will see him again someday.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's awesome about your parents, I never would have guessed that they would want to cruise the Alaskan Inland Passage!
That is so neat! I am so sorry for your loss! I can't believe how fast time has gone. What a hard thing to go through. God is so faithful in all of it. Jason's grandpa just passed away last night.Bringing up the topic with Logan about Death....it is has been very interesting having conversation with a 3 year old about it, but sharing the gospel with him has been even more amazing. He came up with a song about it....he sings....Papa Charlie is in heaven...he is with Jesus but papa charlie can't come to life again like Jesus...because Jesus is God and is all powerful. Pretty good for a little guy. I will pray for you tonight Beth! May you have peace in your heart! I couldn't imagine....*Hugs*

I'm so glad you were able to do something special for Nathan's birthday. And congratulations to your parents! Cruising the Inside Passage is spectacular. We hope to do it again sometime...
