Company!

This week I have company! Courtney has been here since Sun. and gets to stay through tomorrow. Not only is this fun because we have been friends for over 20 years (am I really that old!?!?!?!) but, as my sweet DH doesn't have any work right now, we got to go out kidless yesterday and play. We have not done anything without kids since I had kids 6+ years ago. I am not sure we have done anything, just the 2 of us, since I got married almost 9 years ago. Needless to say, we were long overdue for some fun! We packed up and headed out mid morning yesterday, amid the heart piercing wails of those left behind, and headed for Seaside. We wanted to go to mini golf but they were closed. We were of course disappointed but headed over to the HFS to get some henna. They didn't have the color I wanted for my hair but I found 1 that I hoped would work and then we headed for the carousel mall. OUr first stop was, of course, the toy store to get treats for the broken hearted kiddos. We found the perfect little gifts and then went to the hat store. I have wanted to buy/wear hats for roughly 5 1/2 years. It was on a trip to WA. when J was 6months old. I was trying on some of Courtney's hats and decided that hats didn't look bad on me. Being the penny pincher that I am, and that I was a bit nervous about starting something as monumental as wearing hats ;o) I never bought any hats. So, yesterday I was determined to finally buy a hat! We went to the hat store and had a blast trying on all sorts of goofy hats. We tried the hats with hair (dreadlocks, blonde, grey spikey, etc....), hats that were fancy, hats that were simple, hats that were huge and hats that were small. It was so much fun and I found 2 hats that I really liked!!! I got both and then we went to leave...... on our way in we had seen the old time photo shop and talked about getting our pics done, so on the way out we decided to see how much they cost. The cost was not too awful and so we decided to go for it. I don't know when I have laughed so hard!!!! The photog was great, coming up with all sorts of crazy fun poses for us. He spent quite awhile with us and too 30 pics!!! We had quite the time narrowing it down! We were able to decide on 1 nice pic and 2 funny pics. It is so fun to have soemthing tangible to remember our fun day by! In the end we were sure glad that mini golf had been closed because the pics were a lot more fun.
When we got home we discovered that the kiddos had faired quite well with their daddy and he had even treated the girls to manicures and pedicures. He did a great job and they were beyond thrilled! They loved their presents and I am hoping will be happy to have me leave a little more often! We had Biblestudy last night, I wore one of my new hats and got a crazy lot of compliments on it. :o) When you have never been seen in a hat before people really take notice. lol!
Today we did the henna treatments on our hair. We were trying for more red in our hair. I will have to post pics later and you can decide if we achieved our goal. :o)
I am going to be a very sad girl tomorrow when my company has to go home. SIGH!
